• Summer 2019 My name is Dale Orthmann, and welcome to my teacher page!  The 2019-20 school year marks my 33rd year of teaching mathematics, and all of it has been in this district.  I have taught primarily high school courses during that time, but in recent years have been teaching two courses at the middle school as well.  I was the head high school coach at HMS for 25 seasons, retiring from that position following the 2016 campaign.  For the last 2 summers I have stayed in touch with the game I love so much by helping coach our middle school softball team.

On a personal note, my wife Chantal and I have been married for 34 years.  Chantal teaches 3rd grade at HMS, and this year marks her 29th year in the district, and is also her 33rd year of teaching overall.  We have 3 children...the oldest, Kayla, and her husband Jeremy Berryman, live and work in the Waterloo area.  They have also given us 2 grandchildren, Lexi and Theo. Our second daughter, Krista, recently graduated from UNI and currently lives and works in the Cedar Falls area.  Our son Hunter is a junior; also at UNI in Cedar Falls, so with our entire family in that area, we know the route to the "Cedarloo" area well! In my spare time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends, and the IOWA HAWKEYES :-)

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns, and I hope it's a great 2019-20 school year for all HMS students and staff.
