This past weekend, Delilah Boynton, Bella Dolphin, and JW Van der Merwe traveled to Iowa State University to rehearse and then perform a concert with students across the state in the Cyclone Honor Band.

There were over 500 nominations from over 70 schools sent to ISU for the Honor Band. Please congratulate these students for being a part of the group who were accepted for the Cardinal Band! Way to represent HMS!

Alongside them, students have also voted to recognize a staff member who consistently models these same values throughout every week of the school year. Congratulations to our January recipients!

On Monday, January 19, two 6th-grade students from HMS were selected to participate in the Strong Foundations Honor Band hosted by Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City. Elliott Mayer and Emmett Vander Berg started rehearsing music at noon that day, along with one hundred other students from the surrounding area, and then put on a concert that evening. Part of their day was attending a director's concert put on by band directors from the participating schools. Mr. Arnold-Yenzer played clarinet in this band, and Elliott and Emmett captured pictures of it!
