
4th grade is focusing on dialogue and paying attention to the 'tag' within the stories they are reading. A 'tag' in dialogue is a phrase or word that identifies who is speaking and can convey their tone, emotion, or how they are delivering the line. The 4th graders are busy working to read the dialogue to match how the character would read/say it and the emotions that the character is feeling.




Classifying living things is the new unit for 6th graders. They started their unit with an activity where they looked at the characteristics of candy. Groups created dichotomous keys to sort the candy based on similar characteristics.

First grade just finished a unit on Fables and Folktales last week! To wrap up the unit, each section participated in the First Annual Fable Olympics. Each game was based on a fable or folktale that was read during the unit.
Game 1: The Maid and the Milk Pail - Can you balance her milk pail?
Game 2: The Goose and the Golden Eggs - Can you keep your golden egg without being greedy and going too fast?
Game 3: The Fox and the Grapes - Can you be the Fox and reach the grapes?
Game 4: The Tale of Peter Rabbit - Can you stay away from Mr. McGregor and escape the garden?
This was a fun unit to start off the year, and a fun way to wrap it up!

TK is busy working on mastering one of their standards. They practiced writing numbers 0-5, and are working towards writing numbers 0-20!

Students in Mrs. Ward's room were busy making slime to experiment with physical changes in matter, a non-Newtonian fluid!

Second grade students participated in stations with Mrs. Kleinhesselink, the O'Brien County Naturalist, this week! They learned what it would be like to be an insect stuck in a spider web, observed oobleck while talking about solids and liquids, and went on a bug hunt to learn and describe the parts of an insect.

Kindergarten and TK also had a visit from Mrs. Kleinhesselink, the O'Brien County Naturalist, this week! The student were able to learn about the colors found in nature as well as the life cycle of a toad.
