HMS Elementary will be celebrating Read Across America Week, March 2-6. Students and staff are invited to participate in the following dress-up days that week!

Hometown Hawk Partner at HMS Middle School!

Students in Mrs. Hoaglund's & Mrs. Keene's homeroom welcomed Wendy from Prairie View to learn a little bit about the facility, all the people that it takes to make things run smoothly, and all the services they offer their residents! We played a little Wendy BINGO and listened to all the ways healthcare can be a rewarding career choice.

This semester, high school FCS has been busy cooking up fun through hands-on learning experiences.

Our Early Childhood Education class has been studying infant development and recently had the opportunity to take home Real Care Babies. This experience provides students with meaningful, hands-on practice as they apply what they are learning about infant care and development.

The Advanced Foods class has been “cooking” up new skills as well. Students have been developing their knife skills and recently put them to use while preparing fried rice and Asian lettuce wraps.

In Child Development, students have been learning about creating healthy environments for children. We have been exploring different types of play and examining how play supports various areas of child development.

The Nutrition and Foods classes have been preparing delicious recipes while studying the six essential nutrients. Students are learning how these nutrients impact the body and how to incorporate them effectively into their cooking and baking.

Reminder that there will be no school this Friday, February 13th for Teacher Professional Development. Have a great weekend, Hawks!

This past weekend, Delilah Boynton, Bella Dolphin, and JW Van der Merwe traveled to Iowa State University to rehearse and then perform a concert with students across the state in the Cyclone Honor Band.

There were over 500 nominations from over 70 schools sent to ISU for the Honor Band. Please congratulate these students for being a part of the group who were accepted for the Cardinal Band! Way to represent HMS!

A special thank you to CFE for joining us on Friday morning for High Five Friday! What a fun way to start our day!

At HMS High School, our Students of the Month embody what it means to Show Up. Step Up. Soar! by demonstrating dedication, leadership, and a positive example for their peers.
