Annika Overmire, Aiden Nitzel, and Lillian Van Loon were selected to participate in the Cyclone Honor Band hosted by Iowa State University. They were selected for the Cardinal Band which is made up of over 100 students across the state. They rehearsed all day Friday and enjoyed a concert performed by the Iowa State Wind Ensemble and then gave a performance Saturday afternoon in Stephens Auditorium.
The first picture is all three students before their first rehearsal and the second picture is the Cardinal Band at Stephens Auditorium during their dress rehearsal.

Lindsey, the O’Brien County Naturalist, stopped by HMS and taught TK and Kindergarten about animals and their habitats. The students got to act out some animals and state what habitat they belonged to.

HMS will be dismissing at 1:30 today. No evening activities.
Due to the weather related school closures, the following school calendar changes will occur:
May 22, 23, 24 will now be student school days due to closures on 1/8, 1/9, and 1/15.
January 29 will now be a regular student school day due to the closure on 1/12.
HMS will have a 2 hour late start on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 due to cold temperatures.
HMS will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024 due to the cold temperatures.
HMS CSD will be closed on Friday, January 12, 2024 due to the anticipated blizzard conditions.
HMS will not have any morning activities on Wednesday, January 10th. School will be at regular time.
HMS CSD will be closed today.
HMS will be 2 hours late on Tuesday, January 9th. No AM Activities.
HMS CSD will be closed today due to the Winter Storm Warning.

Kipten Ebel recently won 1st place in the Soil and Water Conservation coloring bag contest with the theme "One Water." She is pictured with Dale Fulk, Chair of O'Brien Soil and Water Conservation District. Way to go, Kipten!

Our final High Five Friday was a blast with the help of some members from Whoville! Santa, The Grinch, Cindy Lou, and Max welcomed the HMS students to school yesterday!
