On Thursday, the HMS Middle School held its very first student council election! The entire student body was so excited about having an election. Students were excited to run for student council, and many of their friends helped with their campaigns.
Students learned a little about the history of voting in America and were able to simulate what voting will be like once they turn 18. The middle school teachers said, "It has been a joy seeing so many young people excited about the voting process!"

The district-wide 12 Days of Christmas dress-up days begin next week! Community members are invited to participate in the holiday fun by dressing up with the HMS students and staff. Check out the calendar below!

Big applause and congratulations go out to Kate Rodriguez (7th Grade), for being selected into the 7/8 Opus Honor Choir!!
A special congratulations to Emery Camman for being selected as an alternate into the 9th Grade Opus Honor Choir!!
Over 2,400 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition.
The 2023 Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4:00 p.m. on November 16th at the C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is made possible by the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc.
