** Winter Weather Notifications ** HMS is using a different platform this year to notify parents, students, and community members about weather notifications. This platform updates the district Facebook page, send emails, text messages, and makes voice phone calls. If you have some missed calls from HMS, this is why.

Congratulations to the HMS High School November Students of the Month! One student is selected from each grade after being nominated by High School staff members. Students are nominated for many different reasons. Criteria can include working to the best of the student's ability, being a good role model for other students, doing well academically, having positive character, or simply having a positive attitude in class. Congratulations to these students! We are proud of their efforts and accomplishments!! Thank you to the Stoplight Lounge for your sponsorship.

The HMS FBLA club attended the United Fall Leadership Conference November 13th and 14th in Des Moines. This conference was attended by over 900 students and advisors. Joining FBLA at the conference this year was BPA and DECA organizations. The theme for the year is Amplify. We joined Sheldon’s FBLA club for dinner and met Shenandoah BPA at the restaurant as well. Members attending were: junior Alexis Grover, sophomore Skyler Shaffer, and freshmen Owen Tifft, Trannetta Hayes, and Reyna Tamayo.

For the past few weeks the Preschool classes were working on a Creative Curriculum study on spheres. The students experimented with different types of round objects to decide if they could bounce, roll, and if they were solid or hollow. To celebrate the end of their study, both preschool classes went bowling in Sanborn! Thank you to the Sanborn Bowling Alley for hosting our celebration!

Compete for a Cure! Yes, our annual cancer awareness event was held at HMS Elementary on Friday and it was an awesome day! I can’t say enough about our staff and students ! They have the biggest hearts ever! ❤️. Not only were we creating an awareness about this awful disease but we were also having this event for our friend Adam Burns. Adam is a graduate of HMS and he has been fighting brain cancer. While fighting cancer, Adam and his family created the “Compete for a Cure” foundation. HMS students and staff raised $2,440.42!! The money given to this foundation helps other families who have been affected by cancer and will also help doctors develop new treatments for cancer. A special thanks to Mrs. Prins for planning and carrying out this amazing event! No One Fights Cancer Alone!
