The Dykstra family came to share with the third graders about the Native American culture. The students were able to try buffalo and dandelion jam, were gifted bracelets, and participated in an activity about how Native Americans lived off the land. This was so awesome! Thank you for sharing your experiences with the third graders!

The O’Brien County Naturalist visited HMS last week and taught TK and Kindergarten a history lesson. She read a book about Laura Ingalls Wilder and talked about how butter was made by churning milk. Some students even got to dress up like settlers/pioneers!

On Thursday, five sixth-grade students competed in the 6th Grade Math Bee in Sioux City. Almost 300 students competed in this competition. These students have been working hard for the past several months to practice and learn new skills! They represented the HMS district and community well!
